Using Thrifted & Antique Decor in Your Home

Hello everyone! Today let's talk about using thrifted & antique decor in our homes!

As much as I love the thrill of the hunt for home decor it's even more fun to see those treasures become a part of the story of your home.

Here are a few stories from our house...

This sad pair of lamps was sitting out for donation pickup when I scooped them up. The shades have expired, but the lamps worked & the bases have nice details. Great potential!

One lamp switch was cracked so Matt got a new one from the hardware store and replaced it ~ good as new!

Now for the simple makeover! Painter's tape covers the tops & cords to prevent over-spray. If you're wondering, the paint color Heirloom White is my go-to for a creamy white color.

While the paint is tacky firmly swipe across the details to add an aged look. This was my first try at distressing anything & it was easy!

Here are the "new" lamps! The shades were thrifted for about $3 - $4 each. I love how the variety in shade styles gives the lamps different "personality" and a custom fit to a space.

The lamp with the narrow shade perches atop a stack of coffee table books by my favorite reading chair. In fact... the hand-embroidered bird tapestry, the English chintz pillow, & the vintage wing-back chair were all thrift shop treasures!

One "new" lamp brightens a corner of our living room. The light airy color inspired me to throw this matelasse coverlet (thrifted for $10) over the couch for spring. On the couch you see the DIY sweater pillow ~  from a thrifted cardigan. This pillow is used daily!

This elegant Gibson Girl water color painting caught my eye one day when I was antiquing with my sister.

She looks right at home in our English Cottage guest bedroom & makes me think of that special day with my sister.

A simple faux bouquet of potted daffodils was spotted hiding among the baskets at the thrift store ~ perfect for welcoming spring!

These cheery flowers have brightened our home last spring on open shelving along with other thrifted decor & recently in our spring entry refresh. These are a few stories from pieces we've discovered as salvage, thrift, or antique finds. Thank you for joining me today as we explored different way to use thrifted & antique décor in our homes. I hope you found some inspiration!

Until next time, take care,

Rachel
