Cottage Style Christmas Home ~ Shop & Decorate with Me!

Hello friend!

Come shop & decorate with me today as we celebrate the Christmas season with cottage style thrifted & antique home décor~ and a vintage inspired cocoa tray!

My theme this year is classic red and green with the whimsy of old fashioned toys and musical instruments. I will be looking for red transferware plates, old hand-made looking toys, musical instruments, and the usual Christmas ornaments, vintage chocolate tins for gifts and storage. Let’s go shopping!

Come along with me in the video today as we shop and decorate for Christmas in the country cottage style!

In these close up shots you can see the theme carried with old books ~ I love the natural patina they bring to any vignette! I also find myself using the brass candlesticks throughout the year as they are a timeless décor piece.

I suppose this was the year for using nutcrackers in décor as I had a hard time finding many that were within my price point! This brown drummer came from Hobby Lobby for $5. Sometimes you can find a great deal retail!

Here is the finished hutch! Try as I might I also couldn’t find red transferware plates at the thrift store so these came from Facebook Marketplace.

Now that the hutch is done, let’s move on to creating the vintage inspired cocoa tray!

For starters I always include a lamp of some sort on the tea tray to add the warm ambient glow. This red lamp is perfect except that it has been difficult to find the proper shape and size shade…

Finally I thrifted the perfect shade for less than $3 ~ but it was oh, so ugly! A little black satin spray paint and we now have a smart English looking lampshade!

I hope you will join me for a cup of gourmet hot cocoa, marshmallows, and gingerbread cookies!

I’ve had loads of fun hunting for treasures in the thrift shops, decorating the antique hutch, and creating a lovely cocoa tray with you!

May you and your family have a joyous, peaceful Christmas season as we take the time to worship and adore our Savior, Jesus Christ!

Until our next visit, take care & Merry Christmas!

Love,

Rachel

Your hutch looks gorgeous, as always! Love the red plates! It all came together so nicely. As for the cocoa tray, I think it’s so cute! Totally want to sit and chat with you over a yummy cup of peppermint hot cocoa. ☕️

Aww, thanks Annie! I’d love to do just that! I’ve got a cup saved just for you!
