Hello everyone! Today we are so excited to be planting our front flowerbed in my favorite gardening style ~ English cottage garden!

We invite you to “virtually” join us through our time-lapse video as we plant ~ enjoy!

Watch our very first English cottage gardening VIDEO!

We started by collecting some proven favorites and some new flowers.

Brick house front with a white door, black iron railing, potted plants and mounds of green ground cover

From the courtyard the flower bed stretches along the side of the house beside the driveway.

To begin with we have a healthy row of oxalis along the edge of the bed that returns as a volunteer every year. Under the window is a row of my great-grandmother’s pink roses. Lastly, there is a lone Bella Roma rose in the corner of the bed. Now for a cottage garden makeover. Matt & I worked together & couldn’t have ordered a more perfect morning!

All planted! The bright, cheerful colors are such a welcoming sight every time we come home. Over time the plants will grow and fill in creating more of the abundant, full cottage garden feeling.

Purple and yellow pansies with dark centers growing among green leaves in the cottage garden

Early the next morning I snapped some “after” pictures of the flowerbeds covered in fresh morning dew. So lovely!

Pink and white geranium blooms with red streaks covered in morning dew drops
Tiny pink oxalis blossoms hanging over green clover shaped leaves dotted with morning dew

Sweet Oxalis, just like my grandparents had.

Lavender and white columbine flower with long spurs, softly blurred green leaves behind

Side view of a purple and white columbine with long curved spurs and yellow stamens
Two pale blue vinca flowers with pink centers covered in dew drops, green leaves around them

Fresh red-eyed white Vinca ~ how they love the heat of summer!

We enjoyed sharing our garden with you & hope you can stop by again soon! Leave a comment below with your garden plans or dreams ~ I’d love to hear about it!

Happy Gardening!

Warmly,

Rachel

Outstanding video!!! I love all the gorgeous flowers and the way you have them arranged. I wish I had more sunny areas around my front door to plant such beautiful flowers but I do plan to put those two beds we talked about out by the street on both corners of my yard maybe next Spring.

    Rachel,
Lovely flowers! I like the stacked pots, and the mixed plants/flowers in the containers. Makes me think of pattern mixing! ????
